[白話文系列] A brief introduction to fast charging specifications

Today I’m going to briefly introduce the specifications This time I’m going to introduce the charging-related specifications Try to introduce to everyone in a simple way First, we must first explain a rule about charging

Three things are needed for charging
1. Charging head 2. Charging cable 3. Charging device (mobile phone)

It must be emphasized here
The above three specifications will affect your charging experience

Let's make an analogy
The charging head is like a faucet, the charging cable is like a water pipe, and the charging device is like a water bottle

The amount of electricity you need is like the amount of water you need The water pipe is too thin, the water output is not large, the water pressure is too small, and the water filling speed is also very low The opening of the water bottle is too small, and the water pipe is too thick to install slowly So I want to fill up with water quickly
Three elements are indispensable

Then we will probably tell you the key points of three different things But before that, let’s talk about the charging protocol. Different from each family, the more common ones are QC and PD

Since we are the vernacular series

Let’s simplify it and focus on introducing PD and QC Among them, PD is the most important

Because almost all mobile phones on the market

All support PD fast charging The full name of PD is Power Delivery

Usually the mating connector is the USB Type-C connector If you don’t know how to divide the connector, you can refer to the previous article
『白話文系列』接頭百百種 USB接頭怎麼分? 簡單讓你一目瞭然!

What is the concept of charging protocol? Kind of like a pass The concept that you must have a pass to use the fast waterway After we have the pass, we can enjoy high-speed charging

Then how do we know if the device supports PD fast charging? To know if there is any, you have to read the product description You can check the manual or the place marked on the product itself

Most of the phones on the market that support Type-c, almost all support PD fast charging

Then there is the very common QC The full name of QC is Quick Charge

You usually see the use of QC fast charging in the USB Type-A hole of the charging head And will mark a small lightning symbol in a circle

After confirming that there is compliance with the charging agreement I'm coming to officially introduce the three elements

1. Charging device

Let’s start with the simplest charging device Generally, the devices that use fast charging are usually mobile phones As long as the phone supports similar PD or QC You can use fast charge~

But of course, some mobile phone manufacturers have launched their own fast charging technology Then you usually have to use your own fast charge group to achieve the fast charge effect For example: Huawei Xiaomi Vivo has its own fast charging technology So make sure that the charging device matches before using it!

2. Charging cable There are two points to pay attention to in the charging cable

The first one is the wattage he can support
If the wattage is not supported, even the high-power fast charging specifications will not be able to charge. It is best to choose a line that is marked to support PD fast charging I won’t buy the same effect as usb~

The second is the material of the charging cable
The most important thing to pay attention to during fast charging is the current High current will easily make the charging cable hot It is recommended to choose better quality batteries It can also increase the safety and stability of fast charging The material covered by the outer wire body should also try to choose a material with higher toughness It is less likely to be unable to charge or cause danger due to bending and rupture

3. Charger
The charger should be the most important part of the charging device why would you said this? Because the specifications of the charging device are usually fixed The charging cable is the connecting conductor The key to true supply voltage and current includes transmission stability It all depends on the quality of the charging head The charging head must support fast charging specifications (PD or QC) The wattage must reach the wattage required by the fast charge agreement to achieve the effect

If you are an iphone user
Only 18W is enough!
Because the wattage supported by Apple's built-in PD fast charging is only up to 18W~! So if your need is just to charge your phone, you don’t need to buy more than 18W

But if you want a charging head to hit the world Fast charging is required for devices including laptops, mobile power supplies, etc. Consider buying a gallium nitride charger Regarding GaN, we will introduce separately

Regarding the small integration of fast charging: PD should be the most commonly used fast charging specification in the future So if you are not sure what charging combination you want to buy, choose PD~!

Conclusion: In fact, the specifications of charging are blooming The fast charging specifications that different user groups may be exposed to may be different But in recent years, a more general specification has appeared That is the protocol related to the USB Type-C interface PD is one of the specifications that can be included in Type-C But it’s still very complicated. It’s really hard to describe these transmission specifications in a simple sentence. Because not only power needs to be transmitted, video, audio, and data
It can also be transmitted through different protocols under the Type-C specification
